Vita

Philipp Schaerer (b. 1972), visual artist and architect; studied architecture at EPFL in Lausanne (1994-2000); architect and knowledge manager at Herzog & de Meuron (2000-06); directed the postgraduate CAAD course under Prof. Ludger Hovestadt at ETH Zurich (2003-08). Philipp Schaerer has been teaching at various Swiss universities since 2010 and working as a visiting professor at the EPFL School of Architecture in the discipline art and architecture since 2014 (Constructing the View). In the year 2023, Schaerer was awarded the Art Prize of the City of Thun.

His works have been published and exhibited repeatedly, and are present in several private and public collections, including those at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP) in Chicago, the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (ZKM) and Fotomuseum Winterthur. Philipp Schaerer lives and works in Zurich and Steffisburg, Switzerland.
