In project visualisation, image montage tries to anticipate a possible reality. A draft design is often applied to a real situation in order to simulate how a building, which has not been built yet, would look like from a determined position. However, it is problematic that each building pictured loses its characteristic quality with the missing third dimension. Spatial connections can only be implied. The creation of a specific atmosphere in the image is an aspect as important as the indication of the spatial and architectural connections.

Auf dem Gebiet der Projektvisualisierung versucht die Bildmontage eine mögliche Realität vorwegzunehmen. Meist wird ein Bauentwurf in eine reale Situation eingesetzt, um die Ansicht eines noch nicht bestehenden Gebäudes von einem bestimmten Standpunkt aus zu simulieren. Eine Problematik ist jedoch, dass jede abgebildete Architektur mit der fehlenden dritten Dimension seine charakteristische Qualität verliert. Räumliche Zusammenhänge können nur suggeriert werden. Nebst der Andeutung des räumlichen und architektonischen Zusammenhangs, sollte somit das Erschaffen einer bestimmten Atmosphäre im Bild ein wichtiger Aspekt sein
